CADIZ — Beaver Local sent a message in a rousing 65-7 win over Harrison Central on Friday night.
Caleb White had six carries for 147 yards and a 99-yard touchdown, while Austin Cline completed 11 of 17 passes for 184 yards and three touchdowns in the rout.
Beaver Local improves to 4-2 overall. The game was also the Beavers’ first of the season in the Buckeye 8 North Division as East Liverpool is no longer in the conference.
Beaver Local will host Indian Creek next Friday, but that is the only other Buckeye 8 game on the Beavers’ slate. Edison (7-0) is also still in the league but the Wildcats are not playing a full Buckeye 8 slate this season, so the league might be shared by the Beavers and Wildcats if both teams win the rest of their league contests.
Dylan Ferguson also had a big game for the winners with four catches for 124 yards including a 54 and 24-yard touchdown catches.
Cline also had a 10-yard touchdown toss to White in the second quarter.
The Beavers led 38-7 at the half.
On the defensive side of the ball, Caden Foster had an interception return for a touchdown as did Tyler Prideau and Keaton Heddleson.
Taylor Johnston got in on the act with a 6-yard touchdown run.
Aiden Price had a short touchdown run in the first quarter as well.
The Beavers also scored 65 points against East Liverpool earlier this season.
On offense the Beavers outgained Harrison 433-130.
As for the playoffs, Drew Pasteur’s Fantastic 50 has already stated the Beavers have clinched a berth and a home game is increasingly likely for the first round.
Beaver Local closed out its road slate 1-2.
After Indian Creek the Beavers close out with Cleveland John Hay and Wheeling Central Catholic.
